Reshaping the Cross, 1992 |

Numerous studies show that the Male God Religion in the form as we know it is only about 4000 years old. The knowledge of about 50,000 years of Goddess Religion has been mostly suppressed by the Church and male historians, and is only now coming back to light thanks to mainly women scientists and archeologists. Considering that things are not the way they are presented, brings on the possibility for change. Carrying the cross for being born female, I reshaped the patriarchal cross † into a matriarchal cross + and dissolved the rest of Christ's body in water, drop by drop, via a mechanical drip suspended from the ceiling.The slow process of disolving the body symbolizes the time it will take to really make a change in the way the world works. Equality will not be reached by waiting for it to be handed over or by affirmative action, but by a movement of women working from the bottom upwards.There remains a lot more to be said… but a few slices of "Holy Baloney" might cheer you up.
